MP from the faction Patriots of Georgia, Nato Chkheidze becomes the deputy chairperson of the Parliament’s Legal Issues Committee under the opposition quota
MP Nato Chkheidze, who represents the faction Patriots of Georgia, has been unanimously, with all eight votes, elected as the deputy chairperson of the legal issues committee of the Georgian Parliament under the opposition quota.
The chairperson of the same committee, Eka Beselia said she had two reasons to support MP Chkheidze’s candidate:
“Primarily – it was crucial for me to maintain gender balance by supporting female candidate as my deputy; the second is that Mrs. Nato has been the member of the parliament twice with serious experience in the parliamentary work”, - Eka Beselia said.
In her interviews, MP Beselia also emphasized the struggle of the MP Chkheidze’s family for during justice during many years.
“This family was among the repressed; they were the victims and for a long time they have been struggling for doing justice and for democratic values in general. This is of crucial importance for me. So, my choice was absolutely reasonable”, - Beselia told journalists.
